Leap Day

what a life swinging the day away

This was my attempt at getting a pic with my kids. Richie wasn't having it. As you can tell.
But he finally gave in well sort of he still wouldn't look at the camera. The little stinker.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for my job I know I have job security. I at times do not love my job it's mine and I can make a difference with it.

I am thankful for my husband. He works hard for our family, and is a great husband and provider.

I am thankful for good friends. My friend Angie has helped me tremendously while I am working picking up Gianna for me.

For Nicholas's results of his rast test he does not have allergies to rice or strawberries at this time.

Lovely just Lovely

Since I have been all lovey about the boys now is the time for Gianna. My Gianna she is becoming such a young woman. Now she must take after her mother. I was 7 years old when I learned to ride a bike with no training wheels. Yes call me late bloomer. But my Gianna is the same.

I guess we both know what happens when you fall down. So this past month she finally learned to ride a bike on her own. She now is asking for a cool new beach cruiser like her friend Yasmin.

I have to also gloat that Gianna took the most beautiful pictures. Usually I am not at all pleased by pictures from school. But this year she turned out great. She is alittle shy about not having her two front teeth so she didn't really smile smile but she looks so pretty just the same.

My Gianna also knows how to work her Grandma. She has asked for a vespa like scooter. Let's see if she gets it.

Make out session

Yes I am not too old to have a make out session. But it's with Nicholas. Now now don't think I am some sort of perve. But in the mornings when Nicholas wakes. He greets me with the biggest toothless grin you will ever see. OH I love mornings. He rolls over to me in bed (we co-sleep) He of course wants a hug which of course I give him.

Than I shower him with kisses. He smiles coos and loves it. I love that he lets me hug on him. I love that he lets me kiss on him and doesn't pull away. I love that he's a little ball of warmth in the am.

I love it all.

I am sure I will bea whimp and be one of those moms that cries when I can't do this anymore. Until than we will have our make out sessions in the am.

Richie my lil heartbreaker

I am so happy I can say that I raised a little boy with manners. Yes my lil Richie can be moody. If you know Richie you know he's a moody little man.

But on the best of days he has the best manners a little 2 year old can possess. He greets me when I come home with a MOOOOMYYYY! And comes running up to me. It melts my heart to no end. Like tonight he was asleep when I came home. So when he woke I was there. He was all lovey and let me hold him give him kisses and let me have that one on one time with him. I cherish those moments.

Usually my little 2 year old is busy and he'll tell you I'm busy. But tonight he wasn't. He said thank you when I gave him water. He kissed his brother good night. He said thank you when I took him to the potty. He was being the perfect little man. Heck he even said "cuse me" when he farted. LOL.

I lub that little guy.

Thanks Dad

Well from my previous post about Gianna's birthday she once again has changed her mind. My dad reminded her that if she has her party in San Diego she won't get as many presents. Thanks Dad again. Now she changed her mind. AGAIN ! So here we go or should I say here I go to try and plan her party for the back yard. I really don't care like I said but Sea World would have been nice too.

My dad is too funny. He better buy the biggest present than.

So yummy for the tummy

1st timer with the peas. Big brother Richie was there for moral support. It was ok but doubt it'll be his favorite food. Here's to hoping no allergic reaction.

Dirt Heaven

We went to my Tia Sheesh's house yesterday. We were not planning to go but decided to go visit for a bit. When we got there Richie's eyes almost popped out he saw his favorite thing, a tractor. And to top it off his tata my dad was driving it. You should have heard him he was screaming before we even got out of the car Tata Tata drving tractor.

So we got off the truck, he ran to the field. My dad was helping out clean the back field and back lot. My aunt bought the house last year and have been fixing up the country home. Richie was in heaven he got to ride in the tractor. He got a ride slowly of course on the quad they have. He played in the dirt threw rocks played on the swings. All the things lil boys are suppose to do. Get dirty and have fun.

Wish I had my camera he just had a good time. I wish we had a home in the country. Maybe when the housing markets gets better we will sell and build in the country. Thanks Tia Sheesh

When good employees go bad

I am saddened and sickened by my employer today. I work for a hospital as you may know. Well today my devil of a boss, decided to fire 2 employees. I am super pissed. These people have families, and were fired on the spot. They were fired when we have other people (plural) I won't name names, but who yell at patients, make trouble with the Dr's , cause rumors , talk crap like your in middle school about others. But yet they keep their jobs! What gives. Today I hate my hospital.

I want to see what goes down, but I may consider qutting if this is the way my hospital is going to be.

Gianna and the 8th birthday

This year we gave Gianna the option the big party in our back yard. The pinata, friends from school bouncer, the whole kit and kaboodle. Or the other option was Sea World. We would dine with Shamu, and possibly have only 1 friend tag along. Well after Gianna stewing and reviewing her options she finally decided she wants Sea World now.

I do not care either way, I just want her to have a good birthday. I want her to have great memories of birthdays. I don't recall the last time I had a party when I was a child. I knew I had one when I turned 18 but the rest is all a blur. I think birthdays should be celebrated every year. Yes I have know to go over board from time to time.

But this year we will not. Well maybe we won't ask me again when the boys's birthday pops up.

Allergist appt.

Well Nicholas had his allergy testing done. I was displeased to say the least. I know he is only 6 months old, so we haven't tried real food he's only been breastfed up until this point. So when asked on the questionaire, I only had responses to say about strawberry, and rice cereal. So he only tested for those foods. UGH! He did the back skin testing , adn when he only had a small reaction decided let's do a RAST test instead. So my poor baby has to have a blood test as well.

Other than that we had a nice lunch in San Diego. It was nice to have just me , hubby, and only one child to watch over. So much more easier than 3.

ER sarcasm

So please tell me when a cold became an emergency. ooooh noo I have a cold let's spend 4 hours in the waiting room. So the Dr can tell me it's a cold go home get some rest and take some tylenol for the aches and pains.

As for that when did nausea and vomiting become an emergency room visit too? I seriously have people that come in for vomiting 1 time only. C'mon people! I must say yes once I did visit an ER for nausea and vomiting. I also had food poisoning. I didn't know which end to put in first I was so sick. I was on my bathroom floor laying there for a good hour before I went in. I did need a few liters of saline before I even peed again. I was that dehydrated. But one time vomiting let's rush to the ER I don't think so!

I do enjoy my job though. I think it's cute what things I find in the nose of 2 and 3 years old. My own daughter managed to put a bead up her nose as well when she was small.

ok enough of my rant's about the ER.

Nicholas vs. Allergies

So far the allergies are winning. I took Nicholas for his 6 month check up. It went well he is super tall, and is off the charts in all areas. Getting big.

Well Nicholas has ezcema sp? it's late sorry. Well I told her about trying rice cereal and him breaking out in a rash. So her suggestion the Pedi's was let's make an appt. with the allergy specialist. Until than no solids yet. huh? I am thinking.

The boy is breastfed only. I am so tired. I think my boobs may look like those tribe woman's boobies that hang down to the ground. Yeah bad mental image but it's the truth. So I call the allergy specialist. There next avaliable appt. is April 1st. WHAT! I am doing no solids till his appt. and it'll be in 2 months I don't think so.

Luckily the office gal was nice enough to find us a appt. that is sooner. Yeah we will have to drive 1.5 hours to get there , but hey it's his health and my boobies/sanity at stake here.

Sadly though we were informed that he will be getting allergy testing done that day. My poor baby hope he handles it well.

Valentine's Day

So how was your's? Mine was good. I woke up to a chocolate kiss and a card from my hubby. He was so sweet and bought the kids their own individual gifts and cards. He is a thoughtful daddy.

It was rainy and cold today. Would have been a great day to snuggle up with your honey. But sadly he was at work. All day long. On to next year.

Thinking about running

So I am considering doing the disneyland half marathon. Believe me I am not looking forward to it. I torture myself thinking about it. But I will do it and finish if I sign up. I need a running buddy though. My aunt offered to run with me.

I had originally thought to do the 5k and make a vacation out of it. Let the kids see all the characters, do the character breakfast, get a 3 day park hopper. And the big deal actually stay in a disney hotel.

Seriously pray for me. I hope I can make it. I did it before I am sure I can do it again.

Rolling Rolling Rolling

9 earthquakes in the last 24 hours. whoa nelly. I hope we don't get a really big one. They are not my favorite thing. With a 2 story house you can really feel it upstairs the baby Richie gets a little freaked, and starts to run. The one I did feel yesterday was 5.1 enough to make the windows shake and my doors move.

OK I really hope we don't have a BIG one. If we did and there was major disasters, I might have to go to work. Well one of us would have to.

Nicholas 6 months

Today my handsome little man is 6 months old. He is such a joy of a baby to have. Yes he's a mama's boy loves the arms, and cries if you put him down. So I have arms of steel now. LOL He laughs and smiles at you in the mornings. He can roll from front to back , and back to front. He is still a drool monster I am sure a tooth will pop out sometime this month.

He enjoys peek a boo and you kissing on his feet. He stares at his hands and opens and closes them watching his fingers so intently. My baby boy is so big already.

We are still breastfeeding exclusively. I tried some cereal but allergy boy had a fine rash after. So until we see the Pedi Dr so solids.
On to next month. :)

16 lbs to go

Yep I am still on my way to losing the weight. I have 16 more lbs to go. It's coming off slowly but surely. I am still doing points. It's ok it's like a game trying to figure out how many points is what. I will reward myself later see the purse post.

I also decided to do another 5k, I am to lazy to do the half marathon again. So I will be doing disneyland 5k in August. It should be fun. We'll make a vacation out of it. Thanks for reading

Me, Richie & 3 am

Too bad is wasn't something fun we were doing wink wink. We had been up half the night again with Nicholas the sick one. So Richie decided um 3 am is a good time as any to complete his ACLS test online. So there we are all tore up looking sitting in our office. He is on one computer I am on the other. 3 books in front of us. One for EKG ryhthms, one for medications and the actual ACLS book.

Why are we dorks? Seriously I would have loved to be sleeping but we are so jacked up on our schedules that oh well let's just do it now and get it over with while we are up.

By the way ACLS is a certification that is needed in the ER to do codes. Like if you come in needing CPR. I am licensed in which med's to give. Anyways so back to our all nighter. I needed to test he needed to test as well.

We finally completed the exams within 1.5 hours and finally went back to bed. I miss my sleep. But we passed so that is all that matters phew!

If the house is a rocking

don't come knockin

we just had a 5.4 magnitude earthquake right now. The first one that actually knocked some things off my shelves. Wow the house really sways in a 2 story home. We are safe of course but everyone is sleeping in my room just in case of after shocks.

Thankful

Today I am thankful for

1. free healthcare, I visited the ER twice this week. It clearly could have been over 100.00 co-pays just for walking in but the ER doctors saw us on the side. For that I am grrateful.

2. My aunt who watches the children. She only speaks spanish and sometimes we have a language barrier. But that woman is the kindest person and treats my children as if they were her own.

3. Sillyness qoute from my godchild when asked if the neighborhood stray dog was a boy dog or a girl dog. His words "um it's a boy dog, we have the same color eyes." haha he makes me laugh.

4. Being a nurse, I am able to care for my children and be confident in my skills.

5. A raise sort of. I am finally in a per diem spot which brought me almost a whole 2 dollar raise when I changed positions. Now I pick and choose my days to work. I love that!

6. A hard working hubby. He is making both truck payments lately which is a burden off of my shoulders which allows me to stay home more often and not have to worry about working to pay the bills.

Dowdy Mom or Stylish Mom

When is the time to start dressing like a "mom". I am 28 gonna be 29 soon. I had the conversation with my best friend about clothing. She is more daring than I loves the trendy clothes. Always looking cute and make up TDF. She also metioned that she will probably be that mom still dressing in the juniors department when she is 40. Gotta love her. I on the other hand am more classic in my styling.

OK call it boring and safe. The jeans , t-shirts, khakis, you get the idea. But I do love clothes as well. I am not as adventurous though. I guess I am on the dowdy end of dressing. I do my make-up and hair wear heels at times but I am not fierce in my clothing choices. At work is even worse scrubs and dansko shoes for comfort. Nothing revealing or tight that would be unprofessional.

I am jealous of those who can dress how they please. The old lady in the stores wearing thigh high boots make up like she's going clubbin and shirts cut down to there. ok Maybe she wasn't old but she could have shopped in the misses department.

I need fashion help. I am at a pase on what to do dress the "mom " part or be more daring. I don't want to go to frumpland already. I will go kicking and screaming to frumpland.

I still want to be young looking and cute. Yeah call me vain, but I do. I don't want to grow up yet.

So unless my daughter says other wise I think I will still shop the juniors dept. In all it's glory. I will wear heels with jeans. I will wear my make up just to go to the market.

Heck I will wear my heels to go the the park!

Paranoid Mama

So once again I mention Nicholas is sick. I am a nurse I see sick kids all the time. But I also know my own children. I have been vomited on so many times over the last few nights, had to change so many poopy diarrhea diapers. Been spit on covered in any and all medication I have given him. Yes he is little but he has a good aim when it comes to spitting up his medicne . So last night he started to wheeze than again he was breathing like a little wind up toy wee wee wee. So I thought enough is enough I will take him back to the ER. We had just been there Tuesday. Placed on med's the whole nine yards.

Well I go back today. The Dr listens to his lungs of course they are clear now. Not a wheeze to be heard. He is all smiles and happy to see everyone. Although last night he was flat as a pancake. Of course he is cool now since I medicated him with tylenol.

So basically I end up looking like a paranoid mama rushing her child to the ER. No I wasn't paranoid, they didn't hear the seal of a kid I had with his croupy cough. So to make this paranoid mama shut up I was given prelone to open his lungs. And to continue all the other med's phew .

Here's to a vomit free night!

Purse stalking

So since this is the house of the enfermed. I have been internet shopping or making my wish list. Did I ever tell you I am a purse freak. I mean I love purses. I look at them in the catalogs, on the internet stalk those who walk by me with one I want. I have purse goals. Like when I get to my goal weight I intend on rewarding myself with a purse. Yeah it's an obession.

I saw a purse last weekend a beautiful burberry one. I tried looking for it on the internet with no luck sadly. So I have been wishing an hoping for some choice ones.

I am such a freak I took a picture of all my purses for insurance purposes, but also so you all can admire my purses as much as I love them.

yes my name is Ida, and I am an addict.

Super Tuesday

GASP! Dare I say it I didn't vote today. I had no time to vote today sadly. I actually registered and everything. If you see my lower posts the kids and I are sick. I even came home early from work to tend to the children. aww shucks. I so wanted to.

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Season of Lent. It is a season of penance, reflection, and fasting which prepares us for Christ's Resurrection on Easter Sunday, through which we attain redemption.

Why we receive the ashes
Following the example of the Nine vites, who did penance in sackcloth and ashes, our foreheads are marked with ashes to humble our hearts and reminds us that life passes away on Earth. We remember this when we are told

"Remember, Man is dust, and unto dust you shall return."

Ashes are a symbol of penance made sacramental by the blessing of the Church, and they help us develop a spirit of humility and sacrifice.

The distribution of ashes comes from a ceremony of ages past. Christians who had committed grave faults performed public penance. On Ash Wednesday, the Bishop blessed the hair shirts which they were to wear during the forty days of penance, and sprinkled over them ashes made from the palms from the previous year. Then, while the faithful recited the Seven Penitential Psalms, the penitents were turned out of the church because of their sins -- just as Adam, the first man, was turned out of Paradise because of his disobedience. The penitents did not enter the church again until Maundy Thursday after having won reconciliation by the toil of forty days' penance and sacramental absolution. Later, all Christians, whether public or secret penitents, came to receive ashes out of devotion. In earlier times, the distribution of ashes was followed by a penitential procession.

The Ashes
The ashes are made from the blessed palms used in the Palm Sunday celebration of the previous year. The ashes are christened with Holy Water and are scented by exposure to incense. While the ashes symbolize penance and contrition, they are also a reminder that God is gracious and merciful to those who call on Him with repentant hearts. His Divine mercy is of utmost importance during the season of Lent, and the Church calls on us to seek that mercy during the entire Lenten season with reflection, prayer and penance.

5 prescriptions later

yep between me and the children I have had 5 prescriptions filled. Me I got medicine for a right ear infection, Richie got antiobiotics. Nicholas recieved ear drops and antibiotics for his infections. And DH too. Yeah this is a sick household. Hopefully soon we'll be better.

Poor Nicholas has had the poops cough runny nose and mild fever. Richie is still barking like a seal. And I feel like I am under water with all the nasal pressure. Yeah so not fun.

Weekend Escape

So this past weekend we took the girls to see Disney Princess on Ice. We had really good seats. I regret to say though I didn't bring my camera. Yes I know bad mom not taking her camera inside. I want to say though last time we went to an ice show no cameras were allowed. So the only pics I have are at the hotel room. The day was beautiful weather was nice although a little cold. So here are the pics.. The top two of course are of the boys and the weather we had coming back home. It was hellish.
Also picutred is my handsome godchild Carlos being goofy to his sister.
